Malachite with a deep valley with crystals on sterling silver bail & chain. Matching earrings, one earring has rougher surface due to crystals. Sterling silver bail, chain & earrings. Pendant is approximately 1 1/4″ wide and 1 1/2″ long. Shipped with 20-inch sterling silver chain unless another length is requested. Chains available in 16-inch to 36-inch lengths.
Malachite often results from the supergene weathering and oxidation of primary sulfidic copper ores, and is often found with , goethite, and calcite. Except for its vibrant green color, the properties of malachite are similar to those of azurite and aggregates of the two minerals occur frequently. Malachite is more common than azurite and is typically associated with copper deposits around limestones, the source of the carbonate.
